Rockefeller Group Development Corporation Receives Entitlements for Rockefeller Group Professional Center
Torrance, CA, Medical Office and Professional Office Buildings Planned for Lomita Boulevard Site
Irvine, CA — April 28, 2010 – Rockefeller Group Development Corporation, with headquarters in New York City and a regional office in Irvine, CA, has received entitlements for construction of Rockefeller Group Professional Center on a 23.58-acre site in Torrance, CA. The site is on the south side of Lomita Boulevard, between Crenshaw and Hawthorne Boulevards, within walking distance of Torrance Memorial Medical Center. The planned project will have more than 350,000 square feet of two-story medical office, professional office, and flex-office/light industrial space.
“The Rockefeller Group is pleased to have received final approval for Rockefeller Group Professional Center. Our company looks forward to providing needed office space to the City of Torrance and the greater South Bay region,” said Greg Korth, Regional Director for RGDC. “This Lomita site is one of the largest under-utilized parcels in Torrance. The Rockefeller Group welcomes the opportunity to provide an economically productive use of the property that will benefit the citizens and businesses of Torrance and surrounding South Bay communities. The development will provide short-term construction jobs and opportunities for new businesses that create permanent medical and professional employment.”
Well-known Torrance architect Dale Malcolm of Withee Malcolm Architects designed the project. The buildings will be complemented by tree-lined interior drives, ample open surface parking, extensive landscaped areas, pedestrian pathways, and user-friendly outdoor space. The Rockefeller Group has already submitted construction drawings for extensive off-site street improvements, including street and setback improvements along the site’s entire Lomita Boulevard frontage; a deceleration lane, a curb, a gutter, a sidewalk, street lights, trees, and landscaping. Access to the site from Lomita Boulevard will be via a new, signalized, intersection and a four-lane entry driveway.
The Rockefeller Group believes the development will be ideal for doctors and business professionals seeking to own or lease office space closer to home. David Prior, SIOR, and Todd Taugner, SIOR of Torrance-based Klabin Company have been selected as marketing agents for the new project.
