William G. Tung is Managing Director, Asia Pacific, for Rockefeller Group Development Corporation. He has directed all of the Rockefeller Group's activities in Asia Pacific since 2003, including branded mixed-use developments in China.
Mr. Tung is also Executive Director of Shanghai Bund de Rockefeller Group Master Development Co., Ltd., after serving as its first Chairman & Legal Representative from 2005 to 2008. Operating from a joint venture with Sinolink and the PRC partner New Huangpu Group, the company is undertaking a 16-hectare multi-phase development called Rock Bund, which is situated at the confluence of the Huangpu and Suzhou rivers. The 18-building first phase of Rock Bund, comprising of both restored heritage and newly designed facilities, will form the heart of a world class mixed-use urban regeneration for the oldest district of modern Shanghai, known as ”Origin of the Bund.”
Before joining The Rockefeller Group, Mr. Tung was a Vice President and Chief Real Estate Officer with Bertelsmann, the global media conglomerate, directing all its corporate real estate activities and ownership interests. He was a Governor of the Real Estate Board of New York from1997 to 2002. Prior to Bertelsmann, Mr. Tung was an Executive Vice President and Partner with a major commercial property company in the New York region, involved in all aspects of real estate transactions. Earlier in his career, Mr. Tung practiced as a licensed architect with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and managed projects worldwide.
Mr. Tung holds an MBA in finance from Columbia University as well as an architectural degree from Princeton University.
